Mathezer Family Stroke Fund
About our fund:
Our fund is designed to,provide grants to the CalgaryAphasia Centre (CAC)
Aphasia is a permanent disability caused by a stroke or brain injury. CAC's mission is to help people living with aphasia.
Imagine your relationship with friends, family, colleagues, business associates if you couldn't speak, write, read or understand. This is the challenge 1/3 of stroke survivors struggle with every day. CAC provides therapy and alternative communication strategies to people living with aphasia, when and where publicly funded services are are not available.
Please consider supporting CAC, all donations are welcome and an income tax receipt will be sent to all donors.
About the Calgary Aphasia Centre
The Calgary Aphasia Centre is a new initiative of the Stroke Recovery Association of Calgary(SRAC), which has been helping stroke survivors for 35 years. It is estimated that currently there are 3,000 stroke survivors in the Calgary area living with chronic disabilities without on-going,long term assistance. Every year another 200-300 new cases are added to this group. SRAC and CAC use trained volunteers to deliver THEIR services and have no administrative overhead. Volunteers currently help approximately 1% of the people living with aphasia and your donation will enable SRAC and CAC to offer assistance to a larger number of people for years to come.
