The Benjamin James McIsaac Memorial Fund
The Mission of This Fund
Benjamin (Ben) James McIsaac was a rare individual who came into this world and left it a better place than he found it. In January 2023, Ben passed away at the young age of 42, having made a tremendous positive impact on the lives of many people and organizations, and of many pets.
Ben dedicated his life to working in the not-for-profit and public sectors, and volunteering for charitable organizations. Ben loved animals, the arts, and cared a lot about mental health. All those who knew Ben, both personally and professionally, were deeply affected by our shared loss.
Ben had an incredibly generous heart. He strived to create opportunities that would make others happy and successful. He was caring, he had integrity, and spoke with honest candor. He was articulate, sharp-witted, and had a prodigious capacity for retaining and analysing information. He also had an amazing dry and sarcastic sense of humour.
Despite his success, Ben never sought the spotlight. He was motivated by results. He knew he was doing things right when he could see that his efforts helped others to thrive and improved the lives of more people and pets.
Ben was happiest when surrounded by animals. There was always a cat and/or dog in his life. In his last years, he had 5 cats and a dog under the same roof, and at least one was always with him.
Ben loved all music and could enjoy every genre. His playlist included opera, orchestral, rap, alternative, country, rock, and everything in between, including many songs from our favorite TV shows and Disney movies.
Ben frequently turned to animals and music as his personal mental health therapy. He was not afraid to share his own vulnerability so others knew they were not alone in their struggles.
Nothing can compare to having Ben still here. To preserve his memory, and to honour his commitment to fundraising for charity, this fund has been established for family, friends, colleagues, and others to come together and ensure continued support for the meaningful causes that were dearest to his heart.
